Scarborough on the east coast of North Yorkshire is renowned as Britain's first resort. There are two beaches; South Bay with the Spa, harbour and amusement arcades and the tranquil North Bay. The bays are connected by Marine Drive; ideal for a drive or walk, and dominated by the medieval twelfth century Scarborough castle
Oliver's Mount motorcycle racing is to return in 2019 with the Barry Sheene Classic on 27th and 28th July and The Gold Cup 27th - 29th September.
The Spa Complex of theatres provides live entertainment of many varieties and during the summer hosts the Scarborough Spa Orchestra concerts; Scarborough is the only remaining seaside resort in the country with a professional orchestra and from June until September 2019 the Spa Orchestra will celebrate the 107th concert season.
Events announced for 2019 include: The Top Secret Blues Festival in March, Sci - Fi Scarborough on the 6th and 7th of April, Vintage Fairs on the 5th of May and 27th October. The Specials on the 6th and UB40 on the 7th of May, Jools Holland on the 16th of May,The Gin Society Festival on the 21st and 22nd of June.
The annual Jazz Festival takes place from the 20th - 22nd of September.

The Stephen Joseph Theatre with its famous theatre in the round offers a wealth of entertainment throughout the year. The shows this year include: Pictures of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde in May. Summer season shows at the SJT include: Two comedies written and directed by Alan Ayckbourn; The World Premiere of 'Birthdays Past, Birthdays Present' and 'Season's Greetings', also 'Stepping Out' By Richard Harris, and The World Premiere of 'The Monstrous Heart' by Oliver Emanuel. The Stephen Joseph Theatre are very proud to be able to stamp the words Made In Scarborough on their work'.There are also; films, live and delayed streamings, lunchtime shows, play readings, teatime talks, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical on the 8th June, a silent film festival, tours of the building, musical events and exhibitions in the gallery.
Yorkshire County Cricket Scarborough is now one of the few remaining out grounds on the first class cricket circuit, and is now the only ground, apart from Headingley, used for home matches for Yorkshire County Cricket. The opponents for the County Championship matches at North Marine Road in 2019 are Surrey from the 30th of June - 3rd July and Nottinghamshire from the 18th - 21st of August.

Alpamere Waterpark opened in July 2016 with a Wave Pool, Splash and Play Area, a 35C Outdoor Garden Pool and four spectacular slides. Wellness at Alpamere, an Alpine themed spa, opened in March 2019

The Goldwings return to Scarborough in 2019 for a Static Display and evening Light Parade around Marine Drive on the 7th of September.
North Yorkshire Moors Railway is just a few miles away at Pickering and visitors can travel to Heartbeat country by steam train. The Royal television programme was filmed in Scarborough and the surrounding district; many of our visitors enjoy walking along the Esplanade to see the South Bay clock tower as featured in the show.
The Forestry Commission Great Yorkshire Forest of Dalby is a great day out in every season .There is lovely drive through the forest with plenty of places to stop and take a walk. Or enjoy a 5km run through the forest on Saturday morning hosted by Parkrun. Dalby Forest hosts annual concerts in June as part of The Forestry Commissions live annual music series. The 2019 Concerts are: Paul Weller on Friday the 28th and Jess Glynne on Saturday 29th of June.
