Whilst every care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of all the events information on this site, no responsibility will be accepted for alterations, errors or omissions which may occur.

By making your booking, we consider that you have read and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

The bed and breakfast price includes accommodation and breakfast for registered guests. The room only price does not include any beverages or food items served in the dining room.  All extras such as additional meals, telephone calls, drinks from the bar, tickets etc. will incur further charges. 

Check in time is from 3.30 pm on the day of arrival. Guests are welcome to collect a parking permit when they arrive and return after 3.30 p.m. to check in; at times rooms are available before 3 p.m. Check out time is by 10 a.m.

We are unable to accept dogs or pets at The Wharncliffe
We cater for couples and small groups. Groups of more than six should contact us before booking.
We are unable to accommodate children less than 18 years of age. Bookings will not be accepted, or will be cancelled without refund if any member of the party is less than 18 years of age. If, when you arrive, we find that your party includes any person less than 18 years of age, no accommodation will be available for you, and you will be charged for the accommodation that has been booked.

For reservations made with Derek or Ann by email, telephone, or in person, a valid credit card is required to secure your booking. Payment is required in advance for one night stays. Full payment is due on arrival; payment may be made by cash in GBP, debit card or credit card. We reserve the right to pre-authorise credit/debit cards prior to arrival. Rates do not include any local or national taxes that may be levied by central or local government and may therefore be subject to change without notice if any such charges are imposed.

When you make your booking, our agreement is a legal contract. You may still remain liable to pay, in full or in part for the booking, even if you are unable to take your holiday. Even if you have not paid in full at the time of cancellation, you may remain liable for the full cost. So, if for some reason you do need to cancel, or if you change your mind, it is important that you tell us at the first opportunity so that we may attempt to re-let your room and therefore minimise your loss. But please be aware that only at very busy times are we likely to be able to re-let any accommodation at short notice.

If we are unable to re-let all the accommodation that you have cancelled the following charges apply;
If the booking is cancelled or curtailed within two days of your arrival date a charge equal to the first night of the reservation will be made.
If the booking is cancelled or curtailed on or after the arrival date the total cost of the reservation will be charged.
If you do not arrive the total cost of the reservation will be charged.
We do urge you to consider holiday cancellation insurance to protect you against possible loss.

If your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control, we would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Please take care when staying in our property. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages, which you cause, to the accommodation or its contents. Please report any incidents as they occur. We do not normally charge for minor breakages, but we may send you an invoice for repair or making good if the damage or breakage is significant.

We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.

We will hold your data safe and secure, contact details collected during the course of the booking will be stored on our computer. Should you wish to amend your details, contact us by email or post stating the information provided at the time of booking and any alterations. Should you wish to have your details removed from our database, contact us by email or post stating the information provided at the time of booking and any deletions. With your permission we may use your contact details to contact you about promotions and offers at The Wharncliffe, and/or other local businesses, and/or to notify you about events in the area, we may also store your email address on the FreeToBook booking engine to communicate with you about your reservation.


In a change to the regulations, From the 12th April 2021 As part of the COVID – 19 Response – Spring 2021 venues are now required to ask every individual visitor (over the age of 16) to supply their contact details to NHS Test and Trace. This is to ensure that everyone receives the necessary public health advice in a timely manner.

Guests may provide the required information by scanning the NHS QR Code with the NHS COVID – 19 app. If this is not possible each guest should provide their name and a contact phone number. If a phone number is not available an email address should be given instead, if neither are available, a postal address should be provided.

Hospitality venues must take reasonable steps to refuse entry to a visitor who does not provide their name and contact details or has not scanned the NHS QR code.
